Interested in creating safer, poison-free DC communities? The Capital Rat Crew is tooling up to prevent rats.

Steps to join

To become an official member, you must complete the following requirements.*

1. Educational Quiz:

  • The first step to joining is to take our educational quiz on rodenticide here. 

2. Attend an event

There are two options for events you can participate in: 

  • In-person Rat Walk

    • We are starting an anthrozoologist-led rat walk series in DC! Join us on this urban wildlife excursion to learn more about rat behavior and prevention methods. More information and a link to sign up for an upcoming rat walk will be coming soon!

  • Online webinars

    • Sign up for an upcoming webinar here. 

    • Watch a recorded webinar here.

3. Take an Action

Pick one of the following options:

  • Post to social media or share on a neighborhood listserv. Click here to access our social media templates.

  • Put up flyers or share door hangers with neighbors. Click here to be taken to our resources page.

4. Optional: Remove Food by Composting

  • This helps to prevent rodents from finding food in your trash can! More information about composting in DC is available on our resources page.

*In order to join you must be a DC resident over the age of 8. Children and teens ages 6-18 can join with a guardian.
