DC Rat rangers
Interested in creating safer, poison-free DC communities? The DC Rat Rangers are tooling up to prevent rats. Crew members get free swag and grow our collective ability to address the root drivers behind rat populations.
Steps to join
Official members gain knowledge in safe rodent management by completing the following steps*:
1. Educational Quiz. See how much you know about rodent prevention with this brief challenge!
2. Attend an event. There are two options for events you can participate in:
In-person Rat Walk
Join an anthrozoologist and urban rodentologist for a rat walk in your DC neighborhood! This urban wildlife excursion is coming to all eight DC wards to teach about rat behavior and prevention methods. More dates and locations will be added periodically, so be sure to check back!
Online webinars
We will be hosting four webinars through August and September. You can sign up for a webinar below:

3. Take an Action. Once you have completed a training, we will give you tools to spread the word among friends and neighbors over social media or in person. Together we can create a rat-smart community!
Bonus: Remove Food by Composting
This helps to prevent rodents from finding food in your trash can! More information about composting in DC is available on our resources page.
*People under the age of 18 can join with a guardian.
